Baby Penelope

While we were away in Kansas, Penelope May made her grand entrance at 5am on January 18th. She was a great help in keeping the birthday surprise a surprise! Aunt Genine would never expect us to be at her house when Penny was born! I'm up in B'ham now and am enjoying chasing Theo and rocking Penny. She looks much like Theo did, but I see a lot more of her momma in the sweet way she looks while sleeping.

I'm so fortunate to be able to spend these days with the B'ham Lewises. Being a Memaw is such fun!!

Birthday Surprise!!

So, I've been missing for a little while. Here is the scoop. Sherm and I planned a secret trip to Kansas this month to surprise my sister, Genine, for her 5oth Birthday! I stopped blogging just before we left so she wouldn't catch on. The surprise was a big success!! We showed up on Thursday the 17th (after a quick trip to B'ham, where Sarah was in early labor) and stayed with our friends Larry and Judy. We spent Friday (after learning of the arrival of grandbaby #5 Penelope May Lewis) visiting family and friends in the area. We picked up Granddaughter #1, Brittani that evening and then waited for the morning of the 19th. We called Genine and sang Happy Birthday to her on the phone from the driveway and then banged on the door until she came to answer! The look on her face was priceless! She kept saying "you're supposed to be in B'ham!" Needless to say, the surprise was a great surprise! We got her again at the surprise lucheon her friends planned for her. She kept wondering what was next! It was a great weekend, family, fun, friends and a new granddaughter. What more could you want!?

Nora's 2nd Birthday!

Friday the 4th was Nora Jeanne's 2nd Birthday. What fun! On Saturday we had pizza and cake and lots of laughs. Nora didn't really want to blow out the candles, but she sure enjoyed taking a very large handful of cake! It was great to spend time with friends.

Guess Who's Coming To Join Our Family?

So, now we are on Baby Watch! It's almost time for Newbabylew to make her/his appearance! You will note that I listed her first. (A grandmother can dream, can't she?! ) Theo is excited, he's just not sure why. So for now, my new lucky number is 5!

Ending the Year

So it's the end of 2007. Quite the eventful year! We had a great holiday season, Christmas was all it could be--snow, presents, grandkids, and family time! What could be better? Each year we do a puzzle during the holiday. This year our first puzzle was a bit easy, so we did a second one! I'm not sure why, but the last 3 puzzles we have all worked together have had just 1 piece missing (maybe it's the puzzle fairy??). Who knows, someday we might find the missing pieces and then we could build a puzzle out of them!!
